STATEMENT ON RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN SOMALILAND–ISRAEL RELATIONS

DOOR CENTER (Data, Observation, Oversight & Reform) welcomes recent developments in relations between the Republic of Somaliland and the State of Israel. These include high-level diplomatic engagements, bilateral cooperation agreements, and the official visit of H.E. President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro) to Israel, where he was received by H.E. President Isaac Herzog and held discussions with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

These developments mark a significant milestone in Somaliland’s efforts to expand international partnerships, strengthen diplomatic engagement, and create new opportunities for economic growth, investment, innovation, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange.

DOOR CENTER recognizes the Government of Somaliland’s efforts, under the leadership of President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), to advance the country’s international relations and promote broader recognition of its democratic governance, stability, and commitment to peaceful development. This diplomatic progress reflects sustained institutional efforts and the aspirations of the Somaliland people to build partnerships grounded in mutual respect, shared interests, and constructive cooperation.

The Center considers these developments part of Somaliland’s broader international engagement. When guided by strong institutions and long-term national priorities, such engagement can contribute to stability, expand development opportunities, and enhance Somaliland’s position within the international system.

As an independent think tank, the Center will continue to provide evidence-based research and analysis to support informed public discourse on the strategic implications of the nation's international relations.
